The Facilitation Canvas is now online

A few years ago Anth Boobier created the Facilitation Canvas. It's a one-pager that helps you think through a meeting or workshop before you schedule it. We've been using it in our training courses and with clients ever since, and it's one of the tools we keep coming back to.

Now we have built an online version: https://nomad8-facilitation-canvas.lovable.app

It's editable, so you fill it in your browser. You can save it, share the link with a co-facilitator, and work on it together.

Facilitation canvas

The original canvas had 8 sections. This one has 9. They are grouped into three phases: Define, Design, and Prepare & Protect. We have added Duration & Format (because time shapes everything else), split out Facilitation Techniques from the old Environment section, and added Follow-up (because too many meetings end without anyone being clear on what happens next).

We've also updated the explanations and prompts for each section. There's a Team Kick-off example you can load to see how it all fits together.

The principles are still the same: start with purpose and work your way across. If you prefer pen and paper, the original PDF is still there.
